Next-gen OLTP at fintech scale.

T H E  C H A L L E N G E :

The client’s Database Engineering team had to modernise
a mission-critical OLTP estate built on Microsoft SQL
Server while operating at full production load. New partner
products demanded real-time event streams that batch
architecture could not support without a ground-up
redesign. Security and governance had to be reinforced
ahead of regulatory examination — not retrofitted after a
finding. And none of it could slow the transaction tier.

O U R  A P P R O A C H :

We embedded senior database engineers directly into the
client’s team, reporting to the Director of Database
Engineering, with a Vsolutions US lead accountable for
throughput and quality. Scope was deliberately fenced to
OLTP — not warehouse, not BI, not ML — so the
transaction tier stayed protected while the platform
modernised underneath it. No big-bang cutover, no
maintenance window.

WHAT  WE  DID:

Designed relational models across MS SQL Server, Azure
SQL and PostgreSQL — and NoSQL models in
CosmosDB, Cassandra and DynamoDB
Wrote and performance-tuned stored procedures behind

Entity Framework applications at millions-of-
transactions-per-day scale

Built real-time pipelines on Apache Kafka, Azure Event
Hub, AWS Kinesis and Databricks
Implemented data security controls: role-based access,
encryption, tokenisation and PII obfuscation
Established DevOps standards using Azure DevOps,

Terraform, Chef and Puppet, and delivered next-
generation platform POCs to senior technology

leadership

THE OUTCOME:

  1. Modernised OLTP platform supporting millions of daily
    transactions at sub-second latency
  2. Real-time event streaming unlocked BaaS partner
    integrations that batch made impossible
  3. Governance framework survived internal audit and
    regulatory examination
  4. Cost-effective hybrid architecture using cloud-native
    services without vendor lock-in
  5. Engineering playbook adopted by additional teams —
and continuous renewals across the life of the
    engagement
